It is with profound sadness that family and friends announce the sudden passing of Terrence J. Scanlon Jr. on May 24, 2026, at the age of 32. Terrence is survived by his loving parents, Terrence and Kelly Scanlon; his siblings, Brendan and Grace; his maternal grandparents, Ellen and Rich Zeo; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who held him dear. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Patricia Scanlon, and his godmother, Patti Woods. His family has expressed immense grief, describing him as a deeply cherished son and brother whose presence was central to their lives.



Raised in the Chalfont neighborhood, Terrence developed strong roots in his community, forming lifelong friendships and building the foundation of his outgoing personality. He attended Our Lady of Calvary grade school before graduating from Archbishop Ryan High School. He later continued his academic journey at West Chester University, where he earned his undergraduate degree, and went on to complete a master’s degree at Saint Joseph’s University. His educational path reflected both his dedication and his commitment to personal growth.


Beyond academics, Terrence was known for his passion for sports, particularly his love for Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. He also had a deep appreciation for music and film, often quoting his favorite movies and television shows in ways that brought humor and familiarity to everyday conversations. Friends and family say his timing, wit, and ability to lift the mood of any room were part of what made him unforgettable.


One of the most meaningful chapters of his life was his involvement with basketball at Archbishop Ryan High School. Terrence played and later coached the freshman basketball team, a role he embraced with pride and dedication. He found great joy in mentoring young athletes, teaching them not only the fundamentals of the game but also lessons about teamwork, discipline, and character. Many of his former players remember him as a coach who genuinely cared about their development both on and off the court.


Those closest to him describe Terrence as kind-hearted, genuine, and deeply loyal. He was known for his striking green eyes and for a personality that made others feel comfortable, welcomed, and valued. Whether through a phone call, a text message, or a long conversation, he made a consistent effort to stay connected with the people who mattered to him most.


Visitation services for Terrence will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at John F. Givnish Life Celebration Home. A second visitation will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Calvary Church. Interment will be private.


As his family, friends, and community gather to honor his memory, Terrence J. Scanlon Jr. is being remembered for a life defined by love, humor, connection, and a lasting impact on all who knew him.
